Open badges

Mozilla Open Badges is a free software and an open technical standard that can be used to create, issue and verify digital badges. Badges display your skills and achievements on social networking profiles, job sites, websites and more. It is a new online standard to recognize and verify  your skills and achievements.

In EduLABOulu you are able to earn badges by providing evidence of a skill competency on different subjects.

AMOK Open Badge Factory‘s engine will start in August 2015.

During the summer, Finnish speaking students are welcome to explore Open Badges and take an elective course independently.

The extent of completion of a course may be 1-10 ects. Have a closer look on Oppiminen Online.

“Oppiminen” is Finnish for learning and Oppiminen online offers a new method of implementing professional learning with gamification elements.

Oppiminen online is a part of the “OsaOppi III – Osaamispisteet pelissä” project in which the requisite skill sets, as defined by the Ope.fi standards (in Finnish), are provided over 3 levels.

SoMe-Novice = Ope.fi I

SoMe-Expert = Ope.fi II

SoMe-Developer = Ope.fi III

You are able to earn badges by providing evidence of a skill competency. If you want to learn a new subject instead of suggesting recognition of prior learning, please familiarize with recordings and materials.

For each subject, an online training session (or a recording) is offered that teaches the requisite skill set for that subject and allows the student to meet the badge criteria.

The “Osaamispisteet pelissä” project lasts from November 2014 to November 2015.

This site provides the students a place to learn the rules of the game, follow the game’s progress,  find more information on the online training sessions and apply for the much-coveted badges.
